The Protection Project’s Embassy Luncheon Series: A Luncheon with Mr. Anders Oljelund, Swedish Ambassador for International Cooperation in the Fight Against Trafficking (February 13, 2007) As part of its ongoing Embassy Luncheon Series and in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, DC, on February 13, 2007, The Protection Project hosted a luncheon featuring a keynote presentation (followed by a question and answer session) by Mr. Anders Oljelund, Swedish Ambassador for International Cooperation in the Fight Against Trafficking. Mr. Oljelund addressed key issues in the fight against trafficking in Sweden and discussed the Swedish Government’s policy against trafficking in persons, as well as regarding prostitution. He addressed the root causes of trafficking, the role of his mandate in addressing this phenomenon, and the importance of addressing demand, among other topics. The luncheon was attended by members of the diplomatic corps in Washington, DC, including His Excellency Mr. Gunnar Lund, Ambassador of Sweden to the United States, His Excellency Mr. Dodou Bammy Jagne, Ambassador of The Gambia to the United States, as well as representatives of the US Department of State Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, and members of civil society organizations and NGOs focusing on combating trafficking in persons. |
